From Mushroom to Magic: A Bacon-Like Delight!
Have you ever stumbled upon a culinary experiment that turned out to be an absolute game-changer? 

Well, yesterday I had one of those moments when I decided to transform a humble oyster mushroom into a mouthwatering delight.

Join me on this flavourful journey as I share my recipe for a mushroom dish that will leave you craving for more!

1. The Mushroom Metamorphosis:

With utmost care and safety, I learnt how to grow mushrooms by going to the Third Moon Mushroom Mycology Event in Hervey Bay by Ma Ohm.  This event was excellent to learn how to grow mushrooms.

From there I grew and nurtured a beautiful oyster mushroom (yes one, lol, but I have more on the way) until it was ready to be transformed into something extraordinary. 

After chopping it up, I embarked on a culinary adventure that would forever change my perception of mushrooms.



2. The Sizzling Symphony:

In a sizzling pan, I heated up Flavourista Roasted Garlic Smash Oil, allowing its aromatic essence to infuse the air. As the oil shimmered, I added the mushroom pieces, sprinkling them with a generous pinch of salt and pepper. Over the next 10 minutes, I diligently stirred the mushrooms, ensuring they cooked evenly and absorbed the flavours.




3. The Crispy Revelation:

To elevate the texture and deepen the flavours, I introduced a touch of water and a pat of butter to the pan. This magical combination worked wonders as the mushrooms continued to sauté for another 5 minutes. Slowly but surely, they transformed, changing color and developing a tantalising crispiness that would make any food lover weak at the knees.


4. The Smoky Surprise:

Just when I thought this dish couldn't get any better, I decided to add a 1/2 teaspoon of Flavourista Smoke It spice.   As the smoky aroma filled the kitchen, I stirred the mushrooms for a minute, allowing the flavours to meld together. 

The result?  

A symphony of tastes that would make your taste buds dance with joy.


5. The Bacon-Like Revelation:

After transferring the mushrooms onto absorbent paper to drain any excess oil, it was time for the ultimate taste test. I invited three lucky individuals to sample this creation, and their unanimous verdict left me in awe. They claimed that these oyster mushrooms tasted remarkably like bacon or pork roast crackling! The combination of flavours, textures, and the Smoke It spice had created a truly delicious experience.


In the realm of culinary adventures, sometimes the most unexpected ingredients can surprise us with their transformative powers. My journey with oyster mushrooms led me to discover a dish that not only delighted my taste buds but also left others craving for more.
